Stunning Maternity Session

This summer has certainly had its share of rain, wind and smoke filled days but I was lucky enough to have this maternity session land on a perfect, sun soaked summer evening.  The results were stunning!   To see more of this beautiful maternity session, click on the maternity tab at the top of this page.

Don’t forget – I am only doing a limited amount of Fall sessions this year as we settle into our new home and I get my new indoor studio space completed in time for winter.  The September calendar is almost full!

Outdoor Sessions with Babies? Yes!!

Although I am very, very excited watching my new house and my new studio go up right before my eyes, shooting outdoors is my first love. The natural light, warm temps, all the brilliant colors that only the great outdoors can provide – no studio can match that.   There is nothing like a session on a crisp summer morning or evening with that soft golden sunlight making everything so dreamy.  For all of you studio-lovers, here’s a few images from some recent outdoor sessions – with babies!!

Just finishing up the last of my indoor sessions for a few months as Uptown Photography will be moving to a new location this Fall – so excited to have a larger space!  This is from a recent newborn session and I LOVE how it turned out!  Snug as a bug in daddy’s hands.

Its Time to Book Your Outdoor Family Sessions!

Weekends book up fast and there are only so many of them, so be sure and get your session scheduled soon.  I did this recent maternity sessions outdoors after a winter full of studio sessions.   Hard to believe from looking at this image that it had rained/snowed all morning and was a tad bit chilly.  Beautiful!  There is just no comparison to natural light and a gorgeous location.  Breathtaking.

Springtime in Montana

Just six days into the Spring season and we’ve seen wind, rain, snow and one beautiful 50 degree day! Spring mini sessions were held last weekend and we had a blast! So many fun little youngsters in the studio! I am busy planning the next mini session which will be called “Mommy & Me.” Stay tuned for details. Changes at Uptown Photography!

Not only has the time changed (how dreadful was that??) but I have made some changes at my studio as well. I now have a much larger designated indoor studio space and have upgraded my studio lights. You will have to check out the images under the Maternity tab at the top to see the results. Aren’t those just gorgeous? I have also invested in some editing classes so you might start noticing some changes in my images as I have started to play with different styles. I like to stay on top of new trends in photography, and also – do some creative things on my own! The image below is of my son, edited to look like an oil painting. This reminds me of an image in a story book….dreamy. Don’t forget to book a spot for your Spring/Easter session! This is a great deal on a session and INCLUDES prints!! Twins!

I had the funnest session recently – twins! I had the pleasure of doing this beautiful client’s maternity images for her last Fall and then was honored again when she asked me to take some family images of her new babies. They were the sweetest little things!! Daddy is a fireman so I made sure he brought his clothes. I love how striking this is!

-30, Winter is officially here!

We had such a mild January here in Butte, Montana that for a second, this summer loving person was not minding winter at all! But then February came and the temps plunged down to -30, and one day, even -40! So relieved that I decided to learn studio lighting and do some indoor work this year! As busy as January was, I did manage to sneak a little time in and take some pictures of my son. In the photo below, he is happily shoveling snow on a chilly but sunny day. I learned how to add snow via the magic of Photoshop and wow – what a cool image! I could really have fun with that program. February is also the start of birthday season for Uptown Photography. Cake smashes are all the rage these days and I LOVE doing them! Cake and babies….I really do have the best job in the world!
